Starbucks is known around the world as a place to pop-in, grab a latté, a snack, and spend a little time catching up with friends. Not many people, including the clients at Starbucks, gave much thought to the role coffee could play in the ways people could be enjoying Starbucks coffees while at home.

My team and I designed a plan to provide inspiration, information, and a commerce platform to make it easy for coffee lovers to discover all Starbucks had to offer when they weren't in a café.

The Process

The agency began a detailed process of identifying the Starbucks ideal at-home target audience and established personas, journey maps, and wireframes which helped the clients place themselves behind the keyboards of their visitors.

My role was to guide my team through a design process where worked to establish multiple style examples to represent how the site could come together visually. The examples ranged from minimal and austere, to bold and rich. 

The site was established in 2014 and continues to evolve and take on new roles, including becoming the sole eCommerce property for the brand. I have worked to guide my team through each design iteration to ensure the site follows it's original design and strategic intent.
